Linggodbawa, birth of Boma
|
| Extended description |
A dispute between the deities over who is the most powerful. Siwa became a lingam (bottom centre of painting) and challenged Brahma and Wisnu to determine its limits, Brahma flies upwards to find the peak while Wisnu goes downwards to find the base. Both are unsuccessful and acknowledge the supremacy of Siwa. In the main scene the two gods are shown on either side of the Siwa lingam in their angry form (Brahma on left and Wisnu on right). The top left has the positions of the gods reversed and shows Wisnu changed into the form of a boar to search for the bottom and his meeting with Dewi Pertiwi who gives birth to a demon son Boma (not shown). Brahma is on the top right with two parekan.
