Death of Dasaratha
|
| Extended description |
After cremating his father, Bharata sets off to find his brother and consults an aesthetic. He meets his younger brother Laksamana who doubts the motives of Bharata in seeking Rama and attacks him with an arrow. Finally Bharata locates Rama who declares he will not retract the oath and return to Ayodya but promises that once the fourteen-year period of exile has elapsed he will assume the throne. Bharata asks Rama for guidance in taking the throne and in the final scene Rama removes his footwear, a pair of boots, and presents them to Bharata as a symbol of his kingship.
