| Extended description |
"This version of the Pan and Men Brayut story, illustrating events in the life of a commoner family with eighteen children, contains the conventional depictions of Men Brayut confined to bed with her many breastfeeding children and Pan Brayut fetching water for the kitchen. However in the scenes depicting the marriage of their son Ketut Subaya there are tourists with cameras round their necks jostling to snap the wedding couple and girls in bikinis sharing the waves with fishermen in wooden fishing boats. A trio of government officials dressed in khaki uniform arrive at the wedding ceremony accompanied by a fourth guest in trousers and jacket, and all are greeted by a pair of women in Balinese dress who place a garland of flowers round the officials’ necks.
