Extended description
From the end of the Adiparwa, showing the burning of the Khandawa forest by Arjuna. This is the second in a series of two ider-ider showing this story, the other one being AMNH 70.2/1116. In the first scene of 1112, (left end) Agni is shown talking to two birds who have escaped the burning and are appealing to him for help. At the other end of the painting, Agni is shown going to his fellow god, Indra. Although of high quality and a 19th century work, this painting does not appear to be strictly in the Kamasan style, and has, e.g. unusual depictions of follower figures.; ;
