Adiparwa. The story of the conflict between the priest Rama Parasu and the nobility, involving the death of king Arjuna Sasrabahu at the formers' hands and the death of Rama Parasu's father in revenge. After this story is shown the interruption of king Janamejaya's sacrifice by Janamejaya's brother, who strikes a dog who comes into the ritual area, only to find that the dog is in fact the son of a divine priestess, who stops the ceremony by cursing the king.
