Arjuna Sahasrabahu and his queen Citrawati have departed on a pleasure trip to the river Narmada with a female entourage & an army to protect them against Rawana. Bottom left scene: The party reaches the Narmada but the queen advises that the river is too deep for herself and her attendants to bathe in. Main scene on right: Arjuna Sahasrabahu assumes his divine form with the thousand arms (triwikrama) and uses them to dam the river. The queen and her train bathe, catch fish and collect precious stones. There are peacocks (merak) flying the air above Sahasrabahu. Top right scenes: (1) Dasamuka is worshipping a jewel lingga on an island upstream but the water rises to flood the island and river banks forcing him to flee for safety; (2) informed of the cause of the rising water he wants to attack Sahasrabahu and is being warned by patih about the power of the king who is an incarnation of Rudra.
