Extended description
FILE: TEXTB647\n\nPERABOE SANG LANDEAN\n\n(dictated by Ida Bagus Made Togog)\n(written May 1, 1937)\n\n1.\tPraboe Landean liked to eat cotton (kapas). The cotton he\nate had been used as a swab on I Loetoeng's penis.\tWhen he came\nto the palace: What does Loetoeng ask in payment? Do you (tji) want gold or money?\n\nI Loetoeng: I request a gong, a drum, a rooster, and a cymbals (kempoer, kendang, siap, tjengtjeng). So then he climbed up in a tree, and then he sang:\n\nSang Landean has eaten (ngamah) the pus from my swollen penis, toeg! tjeng! keok! djir! (the sounds of the four objects above, used as the chorus of his song).\n\nPraboe Landean was angry.\tSo he told his people to get I\nLoetoeng, but they couldn't because he climbed up a great tree that they couldn't limb.\n\n8. So then I Joejoe (Crab) came, and they said,\n\nHey, Crab! Can you kill I Loetoeng.\tIf you do I'll reward\nyou!\n\nYes, I can get him, climb up there.\n\nSo then he climbed up the tree. Hey, I Joejoe, why are you climbing up here?\n\nWhy not.\tI'm your friend.\tI want to join you in making music.\n\nWell, pick my lice for me a little while, because I'm itchy.\n\nSo then (the crab) pinched his throat and he fell down with a great crash. So then the people (banjar) tied him up.\n\nAnd then I Joejoe came down. What do you ask for, Joejoe?\n\nI request a water buffalo with golden horns. So then they gave him a water buffalo. (And when the crab couldn't get the buffalo to fit into his hole in the stream, he said:)\n\nTilt your horns down to the side, to get in this narrow place. But the water buffalo accidently stepped on I Joejoe. That's why today the crab's shell has the mark of the foot of a water buffalo.
